Cale,

Hope you had a great 4th of July. I met you at the Badger St Games in Hilbert and you sold me a set of bearings. They seem to be an upgrade on my stock Rollerblade bearings. Thanks again ! Anyway, I want to look into getting a new set of 90mm wheels. Any recommendations ? Hope you guys have great skate in Chicago. I just registered for Duluth in Sept 2010. Thanks again for your help.

Many thanks to the Rainbo skaters in the pack with Ken Huss that came upon my wreckage and managed to get me to help and out of the race. Thank you.

Cap'n, I hope you have not been sitting back holding your breath for a reply to your post. Our pages are not really monitored for questions. For that there is a "contact us" link higher up on this page. That said Rainbo is mostly an outdoor racing team though we have contacts and some team members do race for other teams indoors. I hope you decided to go to Port Richey and that you did well.

I'm a long time Chicago resident, currently located in Southwest Florida, but returning to Chicago in the next few months. I noticed that USA Roller Sports regional finals are coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm 52 y.o. skating about 45 miles a week, plus one night per week on racing quads. I can outskate everyone in my outdoor inline group (which is probably not saying much), though one of the skaters is at least ten years younger and has good speed and technique. I have essentially no experience on inline skates indoors, been running on 90mms outdoors and racing quads indoors (where I have good speed). The best I can do geographically (at the moment) would be to compete in USARS regionals in Port Richey on May 22nd. Do I have a chance of qualifying in the 50-55 category with essentially no inline indoor short track racing experience?

I will miss George a lot. I'm not a Rainbo regular & can be kinda quiet, so it's hard to get to know people that way. George, more than anybody, ALWAYS remembered me & ALWAYS helped to make me feel welcome. He truly enjoyed what he did with/for the team. We talked skating, photography, cameras, skates, people, life often. George ALWAYS had a great smile to share, and quite a contagious one at that.

I did not know George as well as most of you, but he is missed, and will ALWAYS be remembered by me. George was the kind of person that made this world a better place. I wish I knew more people like him.

Such shocking news:
I was one of those 'newer' skaters always encourged by George, espeically to stay in the pace-line..it was he who pushed me from behind with his little words of encouragement when I wanted to drop out...
Proof of the wonderful person & father he was, is the the success of Murphy.

I'm very sorry his family, the world & skating community has lost such a shining light.

Murphy to you and your family - know your father is always near to you. You are truly blessed.

We as individuals and as a Team have been so fortunate to have been able to share these years with George. His contribution to me and to Rainbo will never be forgotten. He was wise, inspirational, and motivating with an uncanny ability to set new skaters as ease. He filled up our clinics with skaters year after year. Few have done so much for inline racing and for skating.
But it is what he did for us as people that will always stay with me. George was the genuine article, a real down to earth guy with a gift. That gift was to be able to reach people. He reached me on our very first meeting.
George was a gift to you and me and those of us who knew and loved him. We can be so grateful for that.
