I’m a long time Chicago resident, currently located in Southwest Florida, but returning to Chicago in the next few months. I noticed that USA Roller Sports regional finals are coming up in a couple of weeks. I’m 52 y.o. skating about 45 miles a week, plus one night per week on racing quads. I can outskate everyone in my outdoor inline group (which is probably not saying much), though one of the skaters is at least ten years younger and has good speed and technique. I have essentially no experience on inline skates indoors, been running on 90mms outdoors and racing quads indoors (where I have good speed). The best I can do geographically (at the moment) would be to compete in USARS regionals in Port Richey on May 22nd. Do I have a chance of qualifying in the 50-55 category with essentially no inline indoor short track racing experience?

Cap’n, I hope you have not been sitting back holding your breath for a reply to your post. Our pages are not really monitored for questions. For that there is a “contact us” link higher up on this page. That said Rainbo is mostly an outdoor racing team though we have contacts and some team members do race for other teams indoors. I hope you decided to go to Port Richey and that you did well.

Hi I’m getting into skating and just bought a pair of tempest 110 skates. They’re nice but I don’t really like the deep boot. I’m interested in getting some skates with a shorter boot and more speed potential. Any suggestions would be great!

Santiago, we’re in Chicago, only a couple 1000 miles away. Too far to go for a weekend practice. Good Luck on reconnecting with a team. I know they are out there.

Roger, this is something you need to do. We can’t do it for you. Your old email can stay on the list, just go to our practice page and click on the link to subscribe. It’s done that way so we can’t spam you. Bob

  20. Kelly 10 October 2014 at 2:17 pm #

I am just wondering where you do most of your outdoor practices? Thanks

  21. Luke 7 April 2015 at 7:39 pm #

I am interested in getting into inline speed skating, and I am looking for someone with knowledge on the subject. Is there a sporting goods store that I can call that is knowledgeable on the subject, or is there anyone on this team or forum that I can talk/email with?

  22. bobarazzi 22 April 2015 at 7:43 pm #

Kelly, look to the practice page outdoor practices are listed by day and time with maps so you can find us. Though you should subscribe to the listserve to find out specific times and weather reports day of practices. Bob

  23. bobarazzi 22 April 2015 at 7:45 pm #

Luke, if you are in the city search meetup.com for “Windy City Skaters” they have beginner events. Rainbo has individuals who can help you get rolling, but you might get more attention from the other group.

  24. Nebras 31 May 2015 at 8:52 pm #

    Do you offer lessons?

  25. omar 6 April 2016 at 4:56 pm #

I was searching online for a rollerblade/inline skate instructor and came across your webpage. Are private lessons available and if so, what are the details?

    thanks

  26. bobarazzi 16 April 2016 at 8:35 pm #

Sorry, if you are a total beginner our racing team will not be the place to start. But if you search for Windy City Skaters on Meetup.com you might find they welcome beginners. And in fact I know they will help beginners get roller. Good Luck.
